I am so excited that this week is Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because of the good food and good fellowship with friends and family. I’m even more excited that this is my first Thanksgiving as a mommy! I’m excited to decorate the house and create many wonderful memories for K!

Although I try and thank God every day, I have so much to be thankful for! I had a healthy pregnancy despite it being high risk. Now, I have a healthy 8 month old baby boy! I’m so thankful. I have a wonderful husband who is very patient and understanding and who doesn’t mind washing the dishes when I’m too tired to do them. I love my work at the church. I’m just so grateful.

This weekend my mother had to go to the hospital for an illness, and as I sat with her in the emergency room until 1 a.m., I couldn’t help but be thankful because my mom recovered and it could have been a lot worse. I’m just so thankful.

Remembering Others

I know that not everyone is doing well this Thanksgiving. People are unemployed, homeless, incarcerated, and struggling to make ends meet. My husband and I do what we can to give back by donating items and helping where we can, but I feel like we could do so much more! K’s not old enough yet to participate in helping out at the soup kitchen or in ministries in the city, but I can’t wait to make it a part of our family’s tradition to help others in times such as these. We don’t want K growing up with a sense of entitlement. We always want him to grateful for the blessings he has and we want him to know that it’s only by the grace of God that we are not in the same situation.

However, despite it all, I am thankful. I’m excited. I’m looking forward to seeing what God is going to do next.

What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving season?
