Song of Solomon 6:3 (NRSV), “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine; he pastures his flock among the lilies.”

Oftentimes, it’s easy for our husbands to get lost in the shuffle after having a baby. As a new mother, you may be too tired to be romantic. You may not have time to put on makeup or do your hair. You may not even have time to take a shower. After taking care of the baby, chores in the house and work (if you work outside of the home), the husbands are usually the last on our lists. However, as I’ve learned, our husbands need us just as much as our children. Our husbands love when we take time to do something special for them. They appreciate the home-cooked meals or a tidy house. They love when we put forth effort to dress attractively. They need a listening ear when they come home from work. These may seem like little things, but they go so far.

Today is my husband’s birthday, and I always want him to know how much I love and appreciate him! I’m not just honoring my husband today because it’s his birthday. Today just serves as a reminder that he needs me every day. Every day is a perfect day to make the man in your life feel like he’s needed and appreciated. As I said before, you can make your husband feel special by cooking his favorite food, writing him a little love note and putting it in his briefcase, texting him during the day, buying something that he needs at home without him asking, or just a simple, “I love you!” There are so many ways.

What are some of the ways you make your husband feel like he’s still number one (after God of course) in your life since having children?

  1. That is a great question and I love the bible verse you included with it! My husband loves coming home to a clean house and dinner being done, but the most enjoyable thing that I can do for him is allowing him free time to enjoy his hobbies. My husband loves birds, so spending time flying pigeons gives him great joy and brings him home happier LOL! With having five children going on six, free time is a great value for us both, because as you can tell we get enough snuggle time LOL. Also I Love the picture of your husband and you embracing, absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!

  2. What a place of encouragement you have created here! So glad I found you on Blog Hop til you Drop. I am now a follower:)
