With knowing comes confidence

I love the Internet or the “Information Highway” as some may call it. I love the fact that with one click of the mouse and with a few key strokes you can quickly find information on just about anything. I search several topics every day. I look for ways to improve the air quality in my home. I search for ways to teach my son to speak. I search for ways to save money and shop smarter. I love the internet. With all of this information that is so readily available and easily accessible, sometimes when we’re in search of answers, we forget the Source. Sometimes we become so impatient that we choose to make our requests known to Google rather than God. However, in the last few weeks, the Lord has made one thing very clear to me. In this technologically advanced and information age, the only thing that I need to know is that HE IS GOD. This is a simple statement, but extremely powerful. If we meditate on it and allow the Holy Spirit to unpack it for us, then we will gain so much spiritual insight into what this means for us and our lives.

Psalm 46:10 (NRSV), “Be still, and know that I am God! I am exalted among the nations, I am exalted in the earth.”

Know – It doesn’t matter what situation we are facing. All we need to know is that He is God. We may not know how things are going to work out, but we know that we have the Almighty God and Everlasting Father on our side. He literally has all power in His hands. He is the creator of your body and the world. He controls what goes on in inner-space (your body) and outer-space (the world we can see). If we believe and trust this, then we can rest and be at peace knowing that we can cast our cares on Him because He cares for us.

I AM God – When God declares I AM God, He is also letting us know who we are not. Although the information that we have access to seems limitless, we are not omniscient. Although there are many things that we can have at the click of a mouse, we are not omnipotent. He is God. Sometimes the Lord puts us in situations where we come to learn that we are not God. Sometimes the Lord puts us in situations where all we can do is bow to our knees. However, on bended knee we become the most powerful because in our weakness, He demonstrates His strength. Because the Almighty God is working for us and not against us, we can know that all things will work together for our good.

If you’re uncertain about things going on in your life, know that He is God. All of the things that you need, He is. Be still and see the salvation of the Lord. He will show Himself mighty and strong.

Be encouraged folks!
