The kitchen is one of the most renovated rooms in the home – and for good reason! We spend a lot of time there, cooking for our families, getting midnight snacks, and hosting dinner parties. And the kitchen itself is an incredibly valuable room thanks to all the amazing appliances we use in it!

But if you’re getting a little tired of the way your kitchen looks, we’re here to help. Changing a few things in your kitchen here and there can go a long way! As such, here are some of the most impactful renovations you can do, both big and small, to make the heart of your home feel much more modern.

Lay a Backsplash

A new backsplash is an instant draw; it attracts the eye by its sheer color and design! And seeing as backsplashes protect your walls from water, grease, and any oily substances, you’ll want to get a new one in as soon as possible. Go for impact here – bright red or blue tiles in an otherwise white kitchen will look amazing, and help your kitchen to be much more unique in the face of the market.

Change the Countertops

One of the best things you can do to change the way your kitchen looks is throwing out your old countertops and getting new ones fitted. Some sleek white marble, some shiny grey slate, a lovely metallic finish – any of these looks could work in a contemporary kitchen! Start by taking your current kitchen color into account and think of ways to simply highlight it. And when there’s some lovely discount countertops out there for sale, it’s going to be easier than ever to have a dramatic renovation done in just an afternoon.

Install an Island

A kitchen island is one of the most functional additions you can put in a kitchen; extra counters and cupboard space can only help to keep your household moving. So if you’ve got room in the center of your kitchen, think about getting an island installed. You’ll want something big enough to offer workable space, but small enough to not get in the way, so shop around here. And if you’re already happy with your sink placement, you can save a lot of money on needing to get a plumber in first.

Add Some Storage

And finally, extra storage in the kitchen, like we mentioned above, is always going to be a winning renovation. New hanging cupboards, new full wall length shelving units, or even just new rolling drawers under the counters will go a long way to making your kitchen more fit for purpose. This is also a great and simple renovation for rapidly expanding families; if you can fit more food in with just an extra shelf, you’ll save a lot of money elsewhere!

If you want to change the look of your kitchen, any one of the above renovations will work a treat! Complete them one by one for an ultra contemporary style.
