If this is your first date or if you haven’t had a date in a long time, it pays to know that first impressions are important. You might be smart, wealthy, or good-looking, but if you don’t do anything that is memorable and leaves a great first impression, it can be a one-time deal. If you want them to come back and enjoy your company, here’s how you make a decent first impression.
Face Facts
As with every first meeting, the face shows plenty of clues as to what kind of person you are. Even if you have an amazing brain and a kind heart, if you don’t take care of your looks, people get turned off. After all, it is a date. Best way to start preparing for your meeting is to wash up, use the right herbal face toner for your skin, and put on a light powder to keep all that sweat from beading on your face. If you have plenty of facial hair, it’s a good idea to groom it with a fine comb and some oil, if you don’t want to shave.
Dress Up or Dress Down
Clothes make a great impression for first dates. You have to imagine that this is much like a job qualification interview, where you’re judged and rated as soon as you enter the door. If you’re going to a fancy restaurant, then it’s best to wear appropriate clothing, avoiding shorts, slippers or sandals, and shirts with strong statements and images. If your date is relaxed and carefree, then come as you are. Just make sure that you’re wearing clean clothes.
Know Your Date
Before seeing your date in person, it might be a good idea to check on some of their recent posts on social media. After all, that’s how you two most likely met. You can’t learn everything on a first meeting or on their profile, but it counts when you’re having a conversation. If you know where they studied, what movies they like to watch, or even their favorite activities, then you have plenty of topics to bounce off of as the night goes by.
A Question of Paying
In today’s world, dating isn’t all about who pays. It’s a matter of tossing ideas back and forth and spending time with someone you can respect and admire throughout your life. If your date has offered to pay for the evening, it’s still polite and acceptable to offer some form of payment, such as the ride back home or even dessert.

Since you’re both adults and of legal, consenting age, you can choose to take your night to the next level and share a bed. If you or the other person isn’t feeling all too good about it, then it’s best to hold off for another date instead. Sex isn’t the only factor in a relationship but for some, it plays a big part in their lives.
